Looks like July is going to be a low post month for me. Some other things came up and I neglected posting. I've been staying a little later at work to finish up some projects, though it really hasn't helped. I just have more work to do. It's actually pretty annoying how much work there is but hey, at least it makes me busy at work. Better than not doing anything the whole day.

So after a few months of going cameraless, some research and advice from friends we finally got a camera! Woohoo! Jenn and I settled for the Nikon D90. It's mid-level digital SLR but it seemed to be one of the more recommended models. As we're both not avid photographers, we don't forsee ourselves buying a boatload of lenses and other accessories. I think the first few years will be learning how to use the camera. I already like the pictures I've taken with it so I think we made a good choice.

Right now, DC Comics is publishing a kick-ass mini-series event entitled Blackest Night. Damn is it good! Geoff Johns, the writer, has been building up to this event since Green Lantern relaunched a few years back. There was a little taste with the Sinestro Corps War and now with the Black Lanterns and the War of Light, things have really hit the fan! Black Lanterns are Lanterns arising from the dead. So all the dead super-heroes in the DC universe essentially become Black Lanterns. What's worse, if a hero or villain dies, they can become a Black Lantern. Expect tons and tons of action, deaths and twists in this series. Can't wait until the next issue!

I was up in Waterloo for three days and two nights last week training. Well, really Kitchener. I stayed with a co-worker up at the Radisson. There really isn't much to do up there except watch tv. I showed my co-worker around Kitchener downtown, Waterloo downtown and then the RIM campus. It was okay. Nothing too exciting. I'm grateful that I didn't have to drive up every day for the training. That would have been brutal and a waste of time and effort. The training was for ITIL v3 Foundations and I passed the test so I am now ITIL v3 Foundations certified! Woohoo!

Happy Belated Birthday Canada!

Yeah, it's a little late but I still want to wish Canada a happy birthday! Spent July 1st going to the Toronto Ribfest with Jenn. It was at Centennial Park which is walking distance for us so it was convenient to head over there. It was all about the pork ribs but both of us didn't feel like eating pork ribs so we opted for some big ass beef ribs. Pretty good stuff! Also had a dessert and I totally forgot what it was called. It was similar to a Beaver Tail I guess but with fruit on top.

The reason I haven't really been on is that at the end of every month I try to write some current events in last month's archives. I just got a case of Dexter Season 1 and 2 trading cards and was busy opening that up and sorting through the cards. That took awhile and then I got lazy with the updates. Well, I've completed the June updates so I'm now able to post again, woot! woot! I also finally posted my X-men Origins: Wolverine cards up on Ebid. I think I'm really through with Ebay except for purchasing and the occasional high-profile sell. It's really not worth the cost anymore despite the exposure. I'm hoping that eventually more people will come to Ebid if there's a larger selection. Let's hope I can post all my old stuff and give a large enough selection that people will start buying from my store.

Still looking for a DSLR camera. I'm currently leaning towards the Nikon D90. It's a mid-level camera. The Canon equivalent is more expensive and I like the look of the Nikon. Hopefully I'll get a chance to got to a shop to hold one to see how it feels. I still need to read more reviews and also look into the lenses that I can buy as well. It's funny, over the last month, I've met 2 people who just bought DSLRs. I guess digital photography is a really good hobby to get into.

Oh yeah, a big congratulations to my friend David Namisato for getting his work into some sketch cards. I was so excited for him to see his name pop up on Ebay from some of the sketch card retailers. Dave did 24 sketches for the March of Dimes Archie fundraising set. His stuff was some of the more appealing work out there. He also recently met the Japanese Emperor and Empress and gave them a drawing as well. Man, I gotta keep all those old drawings he did for me when we were in junior high school.
