Reviews - Doc Frankenstien #5
After a very long delay, Doc Frankenstein #5 is finally out. I've really enjoyed this series thus far but the lateness of the books has me scrambling to remember the actual storyline. Doc Frankenstein is now in the clutches of a werewolf family. The mother of the werewolves was capture by Frankenstein during the American Wild West. She has somehow survived and vengeance is on her mind.
As Frankenstein is being slowly tortured by the werewolves, we are shown some flashback scenes where Frankenstein killed an entire town filled with werewolves. We are also given a little side story regarding the childhood of Christ and how he was brought up by Fairies. It is very amusing. Frankenstein is rescued in the end from the werewolves, but not before he has lost an arm and a leg. Ouch.
Doc Frankenstein is still one of the coolest books out there. Its infrequency has definitely hurt its potential sales, but if either the Wachowski Brothers of Steve Skroce can ramp up production, I think you'd have lots of people picking this up. It's different and very fun to read. I like this version of the Frankenstein mythos.
The Wachowski Brothers did a fine job with the dialogue and Steve Skroce's artwork is on par. I hope Skroce picks up some other work to fill in the gaps between issues. His artwork has been sorely missed.
Well, let's hope that the next issue of Doc Frankenstein won't be 4 months away. I'm looking forward to learning more about Doc Frankenstein and how everything fits together.
