Reviews - Girls #15
Just when you think things couldn't get any worse for the residents of Pennystown, the women start turning on the men. After the revelation the Merv slept with one of the girls to prove a point, Ethan gets pretty upset at him. The tensions are high between the men and the women as none of the men have publicly fessed up to having sex with the mysterious girls.
This leads to Nancy's husband, Kenny, leaving the house without warning. The women, lead by the vicious Nancy, are upset and the survivors need to find Kenny as they all think he's going to have more sex with the girls. The sheriff decides to leave the camp to look for Kenny and puts Ted in charge of the guns. That doesn't last long as Nancy tries to take control and things get worse. Ethan tries to protect Merv by saying it was him who slept with the girls and as Nancy is about to take out her fury on him, Ted tries to stop her and she accidentally shoots him in the face.
While this is happening, the military have tried to destroy the protective bubble around Pennystown. It a climatic couple of pages, some of the men run off, scared that Nancy will kill them. Nancy, now over the edge, murders the girls that are captive and then holds the men captive in the shed. So what's Kenny doing all this time? He's just met the rest of the girls.
The Luna Brothers keep the surprises coming. So far, each issue of Girls has provided me some great storytelling and characterization. There are so many plot twists in each issue that I'm always dying to read the next issue. What the hell is that giant sperm?!!
The artwork has always been simple, but it is consistent. Without the computerized colouring, the pencils would be bland and very simple. The style reminds me of Pat Lee, but much more consistent than Pat Lee. Nothing really stands out but that also means the artwork isn't difficult to look at.
Another decent issue of Girls; Keep them coming.
