Reviews - Justice League of America #2
The Tornado's Path Part 2
The second issue to the highly anticipated run by Brad Meltzer. After the Identity Crisis mini-series fans have wanted Meltzer to helm a comic book. What better book than DC's premiere super-hero group book.
It's been one year and Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are assembling the new Justice League. The Red Tornado has decided to give up his android body for one of flesh. He has retained his super powers and decides to find out whole stole his android body.
Black Lightning is trying to find out why small time super-villains are disappearing and finds out that these villains had seen the Parasite before disappearing. The villains seemed to be working for a new master and the Black Lightning has stumbled onto something big.
Vixen is suddenly attacked by two of the missing super-villains, Plastique and Electrocutioner. Their motive is unknown but as they escape, they leave a little surprise for Vixen.
Meanwhile, Hal Jordon, Black Canary and Arsenal are heading towards Professor Morrow's hideout. They discover who has stolen the Red Tornado's android body. It is none other than Anthony Ivo, who at the end of the issue, unleashes an army of the Tornado Androids at the three super-heroes.
Whew. A lot of things have happened and I enjoy the fast pace of the book. Ed Benes art is gorgeous in this issue. His work has been more consistent over the last few years, barring Supergirl. Benes continues to get better and better with each new issue and I hope that he'll be sticking to Justice League America.
Well, it seems that we've been introduced to the members of the new Justice League of America. There are no official invitations, but the heroes are all connected somehow. Although there is no sign of Hawkgirl yet.
Justice League of America is off to a good start. Brad Meltzer is continuing his great work from Identity Crisis. The new league has a lot of unknown heroes in it. I like this new roster. You have your powerhouses in Hal Jordan, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. The others are very interesting picks as well. I enjoy how the big three talk about the strengths of all the potential members.
Let's see where Brad Meltzer takes us with DC's biggest team book. Hopefully there won't be any delays due to schedules by the creators. Benes hasn't been a great monthly artist and Meltzer has other commitments as well.
Anyways, a good issue that covers a lot of ground. Great start for the Justice League of America.
