Reviews - Savage Dragon #128
Wanted
Savage Dragon is always fun to read. The storylines are great and Erik Larsen really knows how to make a comic book fun. In this issue, the characters from Mark Millar's Wanted series makes an appearance to further add to the mayhem.
Mr. Glum has taken over the world by using the God Gun. The villains from the Wanted universe have dimension-hopped over to this dimension to steal the God Gun. The Dragon had been hiding out on Vanguard's space station but that was destroyed last issue and now Universo is free. She-Dragon and the Dragon's daughter Angel are back from Dimension-X and are followed by Battle-Axe and Dark Dragon. Did you get all that?
That's what I love about Savage Dragon. Erik Larsen keeps adding action into the book. There's all these different plotlines, characters die and get resurrected, etc. It's just pure fun. I love how the characters of Wanted were used. That was a great series and adding them to the mix for this issue was brilliant.
The art chores are, as always, handled by Erik Larsen. There had been some delays in the book as Larsen's duty as publisher of Image Comics had kept him busy. Larsen's work has never been awe-inspiring but he definitely has a style that I enjoy. I've come to appreciate his artwork and I especially enjoy it when he tries to experiment with his technique.
The backup story is about Superpatriot. This time around Superpatriot takes on Nazi Ninjas. Awesome! Absurd ideas that come from the mind of Erik Larsen. I don't care how stupid it sounds, the idea of Nazi Ninjas is just FUN.
Between the characters of Wanted and Nazi Ninjas, I couldn't ask for more entertainment. Another solid issue of Savage Dragon.
