Reviews - Star Wars Legacy #3

Star Wars Legacy #3

Star Wars Legacy has been the new series I've been waiting for. I stopped reading Star Wars comic books a while back when Dark Horse started to concentrate on the new episodes. With the relaunch of their Star Wars line, Legacy was introduced.

Set a hundred years after the events in The New Jedi Order, the galaxy has changed. The Empire is back and the Jedi Knights are gone. There is a new Sith Lord and he has created new rules and ignored the old. The Sith are now many and Darth Krayt has taken the Imperial Throne from Roan Fel. Apparently the hope in the galaxy lies with Cade Skywalker, a direct descendant of Luke Skywalker. Cade has turned his back on his Jedi heritage and is instead a bounty hunter.

In this issue, Roan Fel takes back command of Bastion with legions that are loyal to him. Meanwhile, his daughter is being chased by Darth Krayt's newest apprentice. Cade apparently has conversations with Luke Skywalker's spirit and Cade continues to turn his back to his Jedi heritage. The Imperial Princess manages to convince Cade to help her but he has different plans and decides to hand both the Roan Fel and her daughter over to Darth Krayt.

Star Wars Legacy has not disappointed me at all. I love how the characters are connected to the characters from the Extended Universe. I know that the new novels are currently tying in the years between Legacy and The New Jedi Order. Ostrander and Duursema have done a wonderful job of tying everything together. I love that Roan Fel is the emperor and that there are even Imperial Jedi. It's an interesting mix. I can't wait for more Star Wars Legacy!

Jan Duursema has been a longtime Star Wars artist and I love his artwork. It really does fit Star Wars. The covers by Adam Hughes don't hurt either. Let's hope Dark Horse keeps the entire creative team together for Star Wars Legacy for some time to come.
