Ultimate Fantastic Four #32

Frightful Part Three

The conclusion of Frightful marks the end of Mark Millar and Greg Land's run on Ultimate Fantastic Four. The zombie versions of the Fantastic Four have escaped and are building a portal back to the Marvel Zombies Universe. Doctor Doom has switched bodies with Reed Richards to use his magic to save Johnny Storm from an ancient Atlantean demon.

Doom screws up the spell and the demon escapes and joins with Doctor Doom's body (now inhabited by Reed Richards). Using this newfound power, Reed decimates the Zombie Fantastic Four and then decides to head into the portal thereby transporting the demon over to the Marvel Zombie universe. Doctor Doom, upset with his mistake, switches the bodies back and sacrifices himself instead of Reed. Of course, asking that the world remember that Victor Van Damme saved the world.

Millar closes his run on Ultimate Fantastic Four with a wild run. Not sure what to think of Doctor Doom being written out of the Ultimate universe. Of course this is comics and there are always ways for dead characters to return.

Greg Land continues to be one of my favourite artists. His art is always pleasing to the eye and I love his pencils. He doesn't disappoint in this issue. Mitch Breitweiser's two pages blended in fairly well with Land's art. I didn't even notice until I read the credits. I'm looking forward to the Ultimate Power crossover with the Supreme Universe.

To be honest? I haven't really been following the Ultimate Fantastic Four. The primary reason I was still buying the title was Greg Land's art. Now that there run is over, I'm dropping the title. I just don't enjoy the teenage version of the Fantastic Four.
