Science Fiction & Fantasy

Hobbies >> Science Fiction & Fantasy

Science Fiction & Fantasy have always appealed to me. Countless novels, movies, artwork and television shows have filled my mind with alien worlds, futuristic technology, epic tales, beautiful women, and alternate universes. I want to share with you just some of these great works and I hope that they will capture your imagination as they have mine.

Novels

There are some great books out there. I remember reading David Edding's Belgariad series. It was mind-boggling to me that such a place existed and it really encouraged me to read more fantasy books. Here I'll share my thoughs at a few of the different series that I've read. If I'm missing some great series, let me know and I'll put them in my "to do" list.

Movies

Friends who know me know that I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I like great space epics and I absolutely love movies that make fantasy into reality. Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, Terminator, the list goes on. Movies show me that some things could be possible.

Artwork

There are some great fantasy artists out there. It continually amazes me how people can conjure up how dragons, aliens and futuristic worlds can look like. I'll try to list a few of my favourite artists here.

Television Shows

When anybody thinks science fiction, they think "Star Trek". Perhaps the most successful franchise in television history, Star Trek has influenced generations. There are other timeless classics that I enjoy watching. To this day I still love watching old re-runs of Star Trek and Doctor Who.

Anime

The Japanese have taken a medium that North Americans think of as "children" only and have used it so effectively to create some of the best animation in the world. Akira, Gundam, Macross, and countless others have provided me with countless hours of entertainment. Cartoons are not just for kids and Anime definitely shows that it's a very viable medium to the masses.
